Measure I Notice to All Burlingame Businesses and Merchants
In November, voters approved Measure I, a retail transaction and use tax of one-quarter percent, which effectively increases the sales tax rate in the City of Burlingame from 8.75% to 9%.
The new tax goes into effect on April 1, 2018.
Please ensure the new 9% sales tax rate is applied to all retail (consumer goods, restaurants, drug stores, service stations, etc.) or other sales of tangible personal property, delivered within Burlingame, beginning on April 1, 2018. Proper implementation of the tax will prevent the need for extra audit procedures and corrections from the California Department of Taxes and Fee Administration (CDTFA, formerly the SBOE).
If you have any questions regarding the applicability of the new tax rate to your business, please contact the CDTFA Customer Service Center. Their representatives are available to assist you Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at 1-800-400-7115.
The City appreciates your efforts in the timely collection and submittal of this voter-approved tax!
