Support Local Businesses During Shelter in Place

The City would like to remind everyone that Essential Businesses can remain open during the County's shelter in place Order through April 7, 2020.  A complete list of Essential Businesses is listed in Section 10 of the Order.   Some examples of Essential Businesses include:

  • Grocery stores
  • Convenience stores
  • Gas stations
  • Banks 
  • Hardware stores
  • Mail and shipping services
  • Laundromats and drycleaners
  • Businesses "that ship or deliver groceries, food, goods or services directly to residents"
The City wants to remind residents to practice Social Distancing Requirements including "maintaining at least six-foot social distancing from other individuals, washing hands with soap and water for at least twenty seconds as frequently as possible or using hand sanitizer, covering coughs or sneezes (into the sleeve or elbow, not hands), regularly cleaning high-touch surfaces, and not shaking hands."

Section 10 of the San Mateo County Order to shelter in place exempts Essential Businesses such as restaurants. Other businesses are not exempt, but may continue to offer goods and services via delivery.
